This 1965 ticket (printed on Globe paper for those of you who track such things) was issued to guests of Walt and Roy Disney on the occasion of the GMWML debut on 8/6/65. The first photo shows the front of the two-layer ticket when closed. When opened, the red bottom half is revealed in full.
I love these preview tickets. I have a few more, but not the one for New Orleans Square, which makes me crazy, because I once saw it for sale, but passed on it. Never saw it again. If anyone out there has one....please email me a photo or even better, sell it to me!

Gee-willikers, that's classy!
Although at first glance I thought Lincoln was standing in front of a Christmas tree. Duh.
Jed- show more of your opening day for attractions tickets...the graphics are so great.
Wow, what a wonderful item...tickets for these one-day events are like a direct link to that moment in time.
SWEET!!! Wow, I've only seen this guy once! I love how this one ticket is for two guests, that's rare in itself!
This is Globe Paper? It looks like thick card stock?
I wonder what the "credentials" that they issued at the Tiru Guide Garden looked like?
This is fantastic ticket!, email the full scans if you have a chance. THANKS!
WOW---That ticket must be worth a few bucks...What a nice find that must have been.
The original GMWML show was easily the best of all versions.
The soundtrack album from the NY64 Worlds Fair is a great listen. If I close my eyes and concentrate I can still see those excellent Sam McKimm paintings depicting key events in the life of The Great Emancipator.
Great post---Please keep 'em coming!
This brings back memories, because I saw Mr. Lincoln at the "Tencennial Family Press Party" on July 18, 1965 (when I was 9).
I remember it vividly because it was the first time I saw Walt in person. My brother and I snaked through the crowd to get near the entrance doors to the Lincoln auditorium and were right there when Walt entered with dignitaries. Having seen him on TV for so many years, it was awe-inspiring to see him and hear his familiar voice him just a few feet away.
Walt and others spoke in the auditorium before the Lincoln show actually began. I remember it being an interminable wait! We wanted to see Mr. Lincoln, who was indeed quite impressive (although we imitiated his stiff movements for the rest of the day).
Then it was off to the Plaza Inn for lunch--where, amidst the excitement of inventorying our swag, I managed to lose my lunch, barely making it to the restroom in time.
We had our picture taken (in glorious black-and-white) with the House of the Future and Matterhorn in the background. I'm looking at that picture now, still in its Tencennial-emblazed folder. My brother is sporting the magic Press Party sticker that entitled us to ride without tickets.
What a day!
Thanks for the great story! Can you email me that photo? I'd love to see what the Press Party sticker looks like!
I'll give it a scan and email it to you in the next few days.
THANK YOU!
