Mark Twain Ticket...w/ Purser's Check Attached!

This is the only one of these I've ever seen: a Mark Twain ticket with the stub still attached.

If you look closely, you will see that it's stamped July 17, 1955. I don't have any direct evidence that this ticket was obtained on opening day, but I do have some circumstantial evidence. First, there's the very low serial number, but since I don't know the system by which serial numbers were printed on tickets or if ticket serial numbers were ever reprinted, I don't put much value in this information. More meaningful to me is that I have a complete railroad ticket that was incontrovertibly handed out on opening day, and that ticket is stamped on verso in the exact same way and in the exact same style. Its stub is also similarly hole-punched with a star.

Can anyone out there provide any additional information?

Wow! Something I've never seen before and it appears on two blogs simultaneously! I do question the claim to "elegant scenery" and "interesting views of many historical places" on Opening Day though--you'd be looking at dirt!

Is another ticket like this on another blog right now??? By all means, share the link!

It was just posted over at vintagedisneylandtickets.blogspot.com! It's on green "Globe" paper and is missing the attached check.

SWEET!!!! I have never seen the stub part!!!! Why would someone buy the ticket and not use it? Do you know the dates these were sold? I see this one is 7/17/55!!! OMG!!! NICE ticket, WOW! - drool.....

My thinking is that it was not bought, but rather was given away on opening day, but as I mentioned, I have no direct proof of that.

Maybe it was a sample that was kept in the ticket booth or in an admin building? Where on earth did you get this?? Too Sweet!
Yes, an opening day train ticket stamped, dated and punched is about all that could top this! Did I say SWEET!!!

Jed- this may be like the train ticket you have for opening day. Maybe it was the ticket to get on the first cruise of the Mark Twain?

I like your thinking!

I have one of those.

Green, It' s still in the book with the stub attached. I found it in the bushes in an envelope while I was standing in line for "Carousel of Progress" back in like...1972 or 73? when I was a kid. I took it to the ride itself and the guy at gate ( He was probably 19 or 20) said they had one framed up in the wheel house but other than that, mine was the 2nd one he had ever seen. Glad I kept it. It's still mint.
